We have a very comprehensive Water Polo section that includes a Senior Squad an U18 squad and an U16 section. The Water Polo section has one training session every week, Thursdays 9:00pm - 10:00pm Although we only have one session many squad members go to other clubs in the area for additional practice.

The section is very successful with players representing Great Britain, the Midlands District, Warwickshire, Worcestershire and the District Schools in a number of competitions.

Access to the Water Polo Section is included with membership to the Swimming Club. But if you are not a member you are welcome to come along to any of the practices to give it a try. The practice sessions are paid on an attendance basis, charges for each session being :- Juniors (under 16) £1; Intermediates (16 -18) £1.50 and Seniors (18+) £2.50. If you are 18+ in full time Education you pay the intermediate fees.

Anybody interested in joining will be warmly welcomed; being a "super" swimmer is not essential. We would especially appreciate any 11 to 15 year olds who'd like to give it a try, Who knows you could be representing the club at County, District, National or International level in a few years time!  Go on give it a try you know it makes sense.

Vic Plunges in for GB

Stourbridge college student Victoria Hawkins has been called up to represent Great Britain water polo team in the Olympic Hopes tournament in the Czech Republic, writes Sharon Hockley. The 16 year old was only selected two weeks ago at a two-day trial in Manchester and will join the 13-woman British squad. The King Edward VI College pupil started playing when she was 13 after joining Halesowen Swimming Club. She said: "I wanted to expand on swimming and took up water polo. "I really enjoy playing - it's good working as part of a team and it really is an exciting, fast-paced game." Hawkins devotes more than five hour a week to the sport and represents the Midland District but this will be her first major competition. She said: "I can't wait to get there - it's a major competition and I'm really excited." If things go well Hawkins could feature in the 2004 Olympics Great Britain squad.
